Consider taking some steps back toward a simpler time of self-sufficiency and harmony with nature and all beings
Purpose: to build respect for Indigenous wisdom, to provide the group with more tools for self-care, to practice right relationship and build community, and to be in alignment with guidance from Elders and Spirit
A One-day orientation, stepping into threshold of teachings and experiential learning about philosophy, tools, ritual and right relationship. This day gives participants a closer look and feel for the experiences and practices they can study more extensively and integrate into their lives
Commit to an extended program of self-care and healing on all levels; emotional, spiritual, mental and physical. Participants will set intention and practice working with healing and balancing energy, to clear path for their own growth and development. Through this work they will have tools and balance to share with others
Step more deeply into the practice and life path of sharing the ways and tools learned with others, to be able to offer options for healing. This deepening becomes a way of life. The learning comes from the doing.
Experience and being of service and in right relationship become the teacher.
Mentoring and guidance are often key to keeping one's balance in this process

Join us for this 9 session focus on self-care, intended to be a developmental, transformative, resilience-building and community-building course!
Spreading the experiential learning out over 9 sessions has a synergistic effect, supporting participants to practice and integrate what they learn more fully into their lives with community support. Participants will set their own personal intentions and goals in the beginning and then reflect on what they have accomplished during the last session
INTENTIONS:
* Expand time to gather and retain more information from each other, helpers, elders and develop healthier relationships
* Build comfort and knowledge through practice and experience with traditional ways and tools
* Mentoring and Practice of techniques for self-reflection, personal growth, self-care and healing of traumas in a holistic, traditional way
* Shift priorities toward valuing the wisdom of our ancestors and other ways of knowing

Learning the foundations is a beginning, not the end, and is an initiation into a life path, whatever direction it leads. One can choose to be a helper, a healer, in many ways
There will be occasional advanced learning opportunities that are reserved for the FTH community, as they have already a common base or foundation to expand on; part of the reason to build a spiritual community is to provide opportunity for people to grow and use their gifts.
Deepening one's experience and capacity is a very individualized process of development, building on the foundation, building confidence and competence in being able to step up and help, hold space for others' process and healing, and perhaps hold the fire for ceremony when one is ready. There's no set curriculum or timeline, as this learning and development is not a linear process; each one finds their own way, in their own time.
Since January 2024, there have been quarterly gatherings, designed to support participants in going deeper within the context of community. In 2024 we have focused on the Ways of Being and the 4 major Archetypes we all work with to varying degrees: The Warrior, the Teacher, the Healer and the Visionary, with the work of cultural anthropologist Angeles Arrien as a reference. In 2025, we will work with Family Systems Constellations for individual/personal insights and healing re: issues and triggers in relationships, families and communities. This work will help participants in their own personal work as well as prepare them to be more effective in their chosen paths. There will also be opportunities for participants to take a leadership role and share their own work and vision
It helps to have a mentor, a guide in this journey, as it's very easy to get off track. Selma can offer guidance, not as an expert, but as one who has been on the path for a long time, has experienced a great deal, and has gotten off track many times and needed to find her way back. Requesting this level of guidance and mentoring is personal and requires mutual respect and communication about intention and expectations
Generally, the best way to learn at this level is through practice and prayer, walking the red road, continuing to do one's own work of healing. Another way to deepen one's experience is to help an elder do his/her work. This could include sharing and teaching others the basic tools, and/or taking responsibility for communication, preparation for events, logistical issues and/or help with ritual, ceremony and healings etc.
Over time, a person may gradually feel ready to try more things on their own, or may get a nudge to step up. There will be time for talk and asking questions in a respectful way. One must unlearn some old habits and patterns and replace them with healthier practices and beliefs. It won't always be easy, there will be challenges, shadows and one may get triggered at times. And these experiences are the opportunities, and the teachers that will help one learn and deepen their roots.
